Dr. A. John Bahr practiced dentistry for 42 years in Blue Springs, Missouri. Along with a Bachelors in Psychology from Brigham Young University, he received his DDS from the University of Missouri Kansas City. He also is a Fellow of the American Endodontic Society, and a Diplomat of the American Academy of Pain Management. During his professional life, he provided dental care to indigenous people in Talamanca Costa Rica, rural Mexico, and the islands of Belize.

He has two daughters, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. After retiring from dentistry, he and his wife, Heillen, have been volunteers for the Guardian ad Litem program in Collier County, advocating for kids in the dependency court system who have been placed in foster care due to abuse and or neglect. They spend many hours each month visiting the children, the parents, the caregivers, and interface with teachers, therapists, physicians, counselors, and legal professionals involved in these children's lives. Dr. Bahr has said " This is the most rewarding work I have ever done. I can't help but come to love each of these kids, and want to make sure I advocate for them as best I know how…The people of Collier County are some of the most generous and kind folks I have met, it has been a blessing to be a part of this community.”

Ballroom dancing classes with Johnny and Lisa has been something John has been recently enjoying so he was the perfect person to ask to substitute for a “Star” who is injured. We are grateful he said “yes”.
