Dr. Joaquin Hernandez

Dr. Joaquin Hernandez was born and raised in Cuba. After receiving his Doctorate in Medicine degree in 1987 from the Higher Institute of Medical Science of Havana, he practiced general surgery there for 11 years. Dr. Hernandez moved to Naples in 2010 and has been working at Physician Regional Healthcare System using high-tech robotic surgical procedures. He is also the founder and CEO at Sagewood Institute, a medical spa where expert physicians and practitioners from a variety of disciplines offer advanced anti-aging services & strategies to help clients look and feel better. The Institute also educates professionals and the public on effective and proven peer-reviewed research on healthy aging. As president of Sage wood Clinical Research Group, he conducts clinical trials with pharmaceutical companies to test new treatments and interventions as a means to prevent, detect, and manage various medical conditions.

Dr. Hernandez’s partner Amy Turner is an entrepreneur working in the areas of real estate, retail, and technology. They have three children, Jennifer (28) Brittany (25) and Max (22). They enjoy gardening, working out and traveling. During the Coronavirus Pandemic, they worked together to provide PPE’s to hospitals, health departments and first responders.

Hernandez has spent time giving back to the community through fundraising and donating to many charities: Pace Center for Girls, Immokalee Foundation, Latchkey League’s Youth Center at the Salvation Army's campus and The Chamber of Commerce, and Women Council of Realtors. He is excited to have this opportunity to support Pathfinders, an auxiliary of Pathways. “As a Cuban, I have always liked to dance. Dancing with the Naples Stars will be a way to support the new generation and their families. We are going to have fun while we support the community in this noble cause.”
