After winning a ride along with the Cape Coral Fire Department, at 45 years young, Heather Mazurkiewicz left her CEO position with the Lee Building Industry Association and entered the North Collier Fire Academy.
She is now a Certified Firefighter/EMT and is the Public Education & Information Officer for North Collier Fire Control & Rescue. She oversees programs like Community CPR and CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Teams), works closely with the media, and serves as the official spokesperson for the District when the Fire Chief is not available.
In 2018 she was named the Volunteer Firefighter of the Year for the State of Florida and played a large role in the passing of Cancer Coverage for Florida Firefighters in 2019. “I feel I have the greatest job in the world, representing the highly skilled professionals at the North Collier Fire District and the fire profession as a whole. As firefighters, it is our responsibility to be there for our community and I am looking forward to "burning up the dance floor" to raise money for Pathways so they may continue their long-standing work and dedication to our community.
